The moogles were already in camp by the time I arrived. I'm pretty sure they were fairly new, though, because it took until a few months after that before almost everyone was using them.

Do you have much time for celebration, on a day like that?

Generally I try to be on call even if I celebrate a little, because otherwise someone's gonna suffer -- there are fewer doctors this year, too, so I figure that's that. Ah well. I'm a bit old to be celebrating every birthday anyway.

I'm not a kid either, and haven't been for quite a few years now -- I just meant that I'm not going to have it be a "me" day -- I can always have a quiet get-together or something some days later or earlier. Or eat some cake while on call or something. I don't need a party.

Is your personal time moving at a different rate than that of camp?

[shrugs] Well, according to people from back home when they arrived, only a few weeks had passed when over a year had. So depending how things go I'm either going to be a Rip Van Winkle or I'm not aging all that much.

It's a European folktale. Falls asleep and wakes up old, sort of thing.

I have yet to hear of that happening here, no matter how long campers spend asleep.

No, what I meant is, I'm either gonna go back and find that I haven't been actually aging here after all -- which is what I'm guessing -- or I'm gonna come back and find myself several years older than I should be.

Wouldn't you be able to tell simply by looking? You're not so old that two years won't make a difference in your appearance.

[shrugs] It's hard to tell on yourself unless lots of time passes, because you're used to seeing yourself every day. I've got a few photographs, but those are old and were touched up so it's not an accurate judge.

I don't think I'm aging past my world's limits, but...
